Borghi Pinti unfolds as a close observation of Florence’s urban surfaces, where time, matter and natural forces slowly transform human intervention into abstract landscape. Through details of painted, weathered and stratified walls, Pieter Dedoncker develops a visual investigation into the fragile balance between control and spontaneous transformation.

The images do not simply document walls or architectural traces, but rather capture silent processes of alteration and sedimentation: paint cracks, fades, dissolves and merges with humidity, light and time, generating unpredictable forms, organic lines and involuntary compositions. What originally emerged from an ordered and functional gesture is gradually redefined by natural dynamics that turn the surface into a living and constantly shifting organism.

Within the project, these wall fragments take on the dimension of mental and imaginary landscapes, evoking geological, painterly and atmospheric memories. Much like Pietra Paesina — the Tuscan stone whose natural patterns resemble landscapes — the photographed surfaces suggest suspended visions between abstraction and recognisability, allowing mountains, horizons, vapours, erosions and transient forms to emerge.

Borghi Pinti ultimately becomes an archive of involuntary micro-landscapes, where photography observes the moment in which matter, time and transformation generate spontaneous images hidden within the everyday fabric of the city.
